Travel Diaries | Luxury Leather At Toronto Christmas Market

Last weekend I took a trip to Toronto’s Christmas Market in the old Distillery District. Oh my word! can I just say how much I love Christmas markets? This one is massive, so we mainly spent our time in the food section. Mulled wine and roasted chestnuts, anyone?

I was also excited because it was the first time I got to be seen strolling around with this little babe of a bag from Avery Verse.

If you’ve been reading my blog for a while, you’ll know that I’m a huge fan of eco-friendly and ethical products. I’m a firm believer that if you buy cheap-you buy twice, so I’d much rather fill my wardrobe with some well chosen and much loved classics than piles of cheap fast fashion. Enter Avery Verse.

All Avery Verse bags are hand made by artisans with Italian vegetable tanned leather – an ancient tanning process which has been around for millennia and is known for producing a beautiful, high quality finish. This technique also doesn’t produce harmful, environmentally damaging emissions. All I know is that the leather is a beautiful, rich deep green which I can’t keep my hands off. I know I’m going to have this bag for a lifetime. It’s definitely an investment bag.

Plus, 10% of profits from every bag sold will go towards social and environmental causes. This is a pretty huge commitment from a small company, and it just shows how much the owners care about their planet friendly philosophy. An Avery Verse bag could fight poaching in Uganda, for example. So it’s an ideal Christmas gift for someone who cares about making a positive impact.

Side note: I’m really enjoying Christmas this year- and it’s not even the end of the first week in December! Something about being in Canada with the real possibility of snow has set me off! So now I’m off to watch The Crown with my feet up, a mug of hot chocolate and a tin of Quality Street at 4 in the afternoon. Because Christmas!

Travel Hacks | The Warmest Socks In The World

One of the things I love about winter is snuggling up by the fire with some thick socks on, curling up with a book and keeping toasty warm right down to my toes 🙂 so when The Great Canadian Sox Company got in touch and asked me if I’d like to try some of the warmest socks in the world, I was like ‘you guys, I’ve got this!’

The Great Canadian Sox Co. was established in 1934,  making it one of the oldest companies in Canada! J.B. Field’s is their flagship brand, and these guys really know what they’re doing when it comes to keeping you warm.

When you’re travelling, I’ve found that it pays to pack light. If you’re hiking, skiing or camping, or even if it’s just boots  weather, you’re gonna need a pair of long socks. If you’re Canadian you know what I’m talking about! So if you pack just one pair, this is the pair you need.

Why are they so great?

What makes them unique is that they make extreme cold weather socks for -30,-40, and -50 degrees. The company was originally set up to manufacture socks designed for the logging industry, but now they specialize in outdoor adventure socks. That’s some serious sockage right there!

They’re made from Merino wool, which is apparently breathable in summer, insulating in winter, yet exceptionally soft and lightweight. All I know is that they feel *so* soft. I was worried they might be a little too warm indoors, but as the material breathes, my feet stay comfy when I come in from the cold.

Their sock store, The Great Canadian Sox Shop in Toronto, also carries other Canadian brands such as Good Luck Sock which I am all about!. Can I have these Toucan pairs in every shade please?

If you’re ever in Toronto, be sure to swing by!

Happy sockmas 🙂
